I  am in another amazing workshop over at Clickin’ Moms, Elements of Design. One week we had to study color and effectively use it in our images. Color is not something that is strong in my images. It is in a lot of my images, but I wouldn’t say it plays any particular role most of the time. During the week, I envisioned my living room as a balloon wonderland and I made it come to life. I spent a day, literally from ten in the morning until three in the afternoon setting this up. I rented a helium take to blow up over 140 balloons, tied strings to them and then moved every piece of furniture out of my living room. Me. All by myself. I was tired before I even clicked the camera. All that was needed was four kiddos to play. Completely worth it <3

  • staceyrw - I can appreciate all of the effort you went through to get these shots (a lot!!!) but man, what a reward!!! These photos are fantastic and I bet even with your exhaustion you are so happy you did it! It’s funny, my brother did a similar thing when he proposed to his girlfriend…except he tied washers to each balloon so they would stay at a specific height and one of the balloons had the ring (might have been the only balloon without a washer.) Sometimes the more effort, the more fantastic! I like how these photographs involve different kids – some photos with all, some with one, some with different interactions of kids. It adds to the experience…and makes it feel like more of an experience. These photograph appear to be an afternoon of complete joy for your children! What a fun thing to witness and capture!ReplyCancel

I love looking at photography blogs. I love looking at the gorgeous locations that photographers utilize. Sometimes I feel a bit jealous. With four young kids, it is extremely difficult to scout locations and then follow through with a shoot for my kids at that location. It involves lots of time and planning! One goal for 2011 is to make the most of my images in my own home. I want to use my home instead of let it hinder me. Over the last few weeks I have had SO much fun capturing my kids here at home. The ones below are my new favorites of Leah. Her and I love to roll around on the trampoline, play chase, and dance around. She can be quite quirky and these capture her quirkiness well.
